CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
The Saline County Sheriff’s Office hires fulltime employees in four
categories:

- Patrol
- Communications/9-1-1
- Corrections
- Civilian Support Staff

Sheriff's Office Employee's are members of the Fraternal Order of Police
bargaining unit and are under a merit system.

Fulltime position's in patrol, communications/9-1-1 and corrections,
require passing a written merit test, which is offered by the Saline County
Merit Commission and is given periodically, as required.

The test is advertised locally as to when and where it is given. In addition,
employment as a patrol deputy requires a physical agility test also
administered by the Merit Commision.

After all testing is complete, the Merit Commission creates a list of
qualified applicants and the Sheriff chooses new hires from that list.

All new hires serve a probationary period and must successfully complete
all required training and certification for their position.

The Sheriff’s Office does hire part time staff for Corrections,
Court Security and Communications/9-1-1, as the need
arises.

To seek part time employment in any of those area's, you may pick up an
application Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm, except on holiday's.

The Sheriff’s Office is an equal opportunity employer.
