The Saline County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division provides
investigations services for a variety of crimes and is broken into various
investigative sub categories. The major categories are:

- General Criminal
- Narcotics
- Crime Scene Investigation and Processing

Each investigator participates in a rotating on call schedule and there is
someone on call every day as a primary investigative resource.

Typically, an incident is first evaluated by a patrol deputy, who receives the
initial call and conducts a preliminary investigation. If the patrol deputy
realizes the need for a more in depth investigation, a detective and/or crime
scene investigator may be called and assigned the case for follow up.

Sometimes the need is immediately determined and a detective needs to come to
the crime scene to initiate the investigation at the aearliest possible moment. At
other times, the patrol deputy may complete an initial report before it is
assigned/referred to investigations.
